The novel coronavirus pandemic hit us in December 2019  with its first case in Wuhan, China. Since then, the virus has spread across the world with 1,970,394 deaths and 92,022,539 active cases. The WHO  and the CDC have issued health guidelines that people must follow to keep themselves safe in 2021. Here are a few of them.

Cover Your Nose and Mouth with a Mask

Wearing a mask is one of the prime health measures that you should take. When in a public setting and when around people who don’t live in your house, you must wear a mask because you can spread COVID-19 as a carrier if not as an infected person.  Be sure to avoid placing a mask on children younger than 2 years, unconscious adults, and people who have trouble breathing.

Keep a 6-feet Distance from Others.

Outside the house: You must keep a 6-feet (2 arms’ length) distance between yourself and others. It’s because you never know who’s carrying the virus. People need to keep their distance if they’re at a higher risk of getting sick. Inside the house: Try to avoid staying in proximity to people who are sick. Make sure your separate their towel, bedding, and utensils.

Frequently Wash Your Hands

Make sure that you wash your hands with a good quality anti-bacterial soap for at least 20 seconds, especially after coming back from a public space, sneezing, or coughing. You must wash your hands:

  • Before eating food
  • After using the bathroom
  • After leaving a crowded place
  • After coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose
  • After handling your mask
  • After attending someone who’s sick
  • After touching your pets

If you don’t have access to soap, make sure you use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. Use an adequate amount of it and rub your hands together until dry.
