Stay at Home— 4 Things You Can Do at Home When Dealing with COVID-19

A visualization of the COVID-19 virus

With more than 33.5 million COVID-19 cases and over 600,000 deaths, the USA has become one of the more fiercely affected countries in the world during this pandemic. Thankfully, we now have vaccines that are, for the most part, effective.

But as the experts keep reminding us, the efficacy of these vaccines isn’t 100 percent; therefore, it’s crucial to continue being careful and sensible.

But luckily, if you’ve got the vaccine and still contract COVID, you’re all set to fight it yourself, at home.

Here’s all you need to do.

Track Your Symptoms Closely

Because you’re not being looked after by a team of nurses and doctors at a hospital, you need to keep a detailed account of all the symptoms you experience on a daily basis. COVID-19 symptoms can alter pretty quickly on a daily basis. One day you’ll feel fine, and the next, you’ll probably be questioning your existence.

Make sure to regularly check your temperature and pay close attention to the way you’re breathing. It’s also a good idea to keep an oximeter at hand and monitor the oxygen level in your blood. If it’s below the optimal levels—at least 95 percent, get in touch with a doctor.

Lots of Fluids and Rest

COVID-19 is often marked by symptoms such as fever and diarrhea. This can make you feel dehydrated and lethargic. Make sure to stay hydrated if this happens. Dehydration will only make you feel worse and bring about the onset of other symptoms like light-headedness.

Fresh juices, broths or soups, and tea are all great options to stay hydrated and strong enough to fight off the virus.

Treat the Symptoms

Before the vaccine came about, the only way doctors knew to handle the virus was to treat its symptoms. But even now, while the vaccine does give you a better fighting chance, the symptoms have to be taken care of with medication.

Over-the-counter medication to treat fever, diarrhea and cough are all suitable options. But if symptoms persist and worsen, you may need a doctor’s advice.

Get an Online Medical Consultation

While you’re treating the virus at home, it’s still crucial to stay in touch with a certified doctor. They can tailor a treatment plan for you and know when and if you need to be shifted to a hospital.

But obviously, walking into the doctor’s office or even ER isn’t the best approach since you can expose other people. So, the best approach is to look into online doctor consultation services like ours.
