What is Paxlovid?

Paxlovid – the generic name nirmatrelvir or ritonavir – is Pfizer’s new anti-viral, oral medication. Paxlovid is a SARS-COV2 protease inhibitor. It exhibits defense mechanisms against COVID-19 by inhibiting the mPRO. Doing so prevents viral replication within the human body. Paxlovid provides resistance against the Delta variant. Experts also believe it will offer some resistance against the newer Omicron variant, particularly since Omicron isn’t as severe as Delta. Paxlovid is suited for at-risk patients with mild-moderate COVID-19 symptoms, and should always be taken after consultation from an online doctor for Molnupiravir and Paxlovid.
